Saul Leiter (December 3 1923- November 26 2013) Who: Saul Leiter was an American photographer and painter whose early work in the 1940's and 50's was an important contribution to what is now recognized as the New York school of photography. What: Why: When: Saul Leiter was first given a camera when he was 12 years old, and was soon taking black and white pictures with a 35 mm lense. In the year 1948 he started taking colored photos, and started working with other contemporary photographers. For then next 20 years he was a fashion photographer for places such as England vogue.
